Meeting Max: A Holocaust Survivor's Story is a young man's journey to learn about the Holocaust by interviewing Max Steinmetz, a Holocaust survivor in his neighborhood.  Luke grapples with his own feelings and understanding of the Holocaust as Max reveals how his family was killed at Auschwitz, he was forced into become a slave laborer at Dachau until finally liberated by the American army. The experience changes Luke and inspires him to help his generation learn about the Holocaust.

Meeting Max was produced for Alabama Public Television in cooperation with the Birmingham Holocaust Education Center.  It aims to teach high school students about the Holocaust, the power of Oral History and the value of archival images.  It was constructed as both a series of three 10-minute videos for teachers to use in a classroom setting as well as one 30-minute documentary for broadcast to a general audience
